Creating an avenue to help catalyse and grow community philanthropy in Zimbabwe
Philanthropy is the love for humanity which shows itself in the wish to promote the well-being of others and is often expressed especially by the generous donation of money to good causes. Simply put, philanthropy is the practice of giving. Conventional philanthropy is often viewed in the form of High Net Worth Individuals (HNWIs) or the rich in society giving money to benefit a group or a cause. However, philanthropy or giving is something anyone in society can do. It is also not always about or limited to the giving of money. The practice of giving can also be in the form of giving of one’s time, expertise, natural (e.g. land) or physical (e.g. house, farming tools) resources to help improve the well-being of someone else or others around them. Anyone in a society can practice philanthropy or be a philanthropist, regardless of status or net worth, by giving gifts of time, skills or money.
